I've just been to see the newest Harry Potter movie today- a rarity, considering this is only the second/ technically first day it's out- and I must say-
I wasn't that impressed. (spoilers ahead)
Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad movie, it's... just not impressive. It's rated much lower than the last one- maybe they're trying to appeal to kids again?-I don't know- for one thing. (here they come-)
And for another- (last chance. spoilers below-!)
(YOU'VE REACHED THE SPOILERS!!! =d)
They shuffled Ron to the side almost the entire movie, had Harry and Hermonine sob on each other's shoulders about their equally pathetic love-lives, burned down the Weasley's house (which is news to me), and forgot the nearly all the important stuff.
LlKE THE ENDING.
The really, really awesome ending that I loved reading. The really awesome magic and badassery. The really dramatic stuff. The pivtal moment in Harry's fight against He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named- AND- they blow it. Completely. ((wallbanger))
They did a sunset scene instead. A FRIGGIN' SUNSET. NO big heroic fight with everyone- NO beautifully touching funeral for the greatest wizard of their time. A LOUSY SUNSET. Where they said how lovely Hogwarts looked. WHHHAAAAAT?!
I was quite looking foreward to seeing sweet little Longbottom kick serious ass in the battle ):
There is some fairly impressive sulking from Draco- rather good bit with the birds I thought- and some truely funny awkward moments. And they were in uniform for more of the movie. And Luna appears quite often, which I like. Sluggy had a little less personality than I hoped, but nonetheless he was well-cast. Aaand they tossed us a little Tonks/Lupin action, which is appericated.
In all, they could have done a better- much better job. More Horcruses, less Love Potions next time. Still, not a bad movie to waste the afternoon with.
... ooooh, I've got a popcorn headache. Uuuughleck. Balancing this cup of steaming hot tea on my forehead seems to be helping a bit though.
